What backs the work
Not every job carries the same guarantee. Here is exactly what covers each one, in plain terms, plus the license and certifications C.B.E. Construction holds.
Remodeling
Five years
Labor guarantee on all remodeling work
Kitchens, bathrooms, cabinets, backsplashes, bathtubs and showers, sinks and flooring: every remodeling job C.B.E. finishes is backed by a five year guarantee on the labor. That covers how the cabinets were hung, the plumbing was run, the tile was set. It does not replace the manufacturer's own warranty on the cabinets, the faucet or an appliance; those come with their own paperwork from whoever made them.
The other three lines
- Doors and windows: one year
- Every door and window installation carries a one year labor guarantee, covering the fit and the seal C.B.E. put in, separate from whatever warranty the door or window manufacturer offers on the unit itself.
- New construction: one year
- New home construction, additions, sunrooms, screen porches and decks carry a one year guarantee on the labor, framing through finishes, for the first year the space is lived in.
- Roofing and siding: license and certification, not a stated term
- Roofing and siding work is not sold on a stated labor term. What stands behind it instead is the Illinois roofing contractor license and GAF certified installers below, plus whatever workmanship or material warranty applies to the specific shingle or siding product used on the job. Ask about that warranty when you get your estimate.
License, bonding and certification
C.B.E. Construction is licensed (#104-001-614), bonded and insured, in its own published words. That license is issued by the State of Illinois specifically for roofing contractors and covers the roofing and siding work described above.
C.B.E. is also lead-safe EPA certified. That matters directly on any home built before 1978: when interior or exterior walls come down for a remodel, an addition or a re-roof, old paint has to be handled and contained under federal lead-safe rules, not treated as an afterthought once the dust is already in the air. On the roofing side, the crew are GAF certified installers, trained to that manufacturer's own installation standards.

Blair Brown has worked in construction since 1987, across commercial, residential, new construction and remodeling. He and his wife Lorie have owned and run C.B.E. Construction together since it was established in July 1998, with over 100 permitted building projects on record with the State of Illinois in that time.
Free estimates on all four lines
Remodeling, roofing and siding, doors and windows, and new construction all get a free estimate. Owner Blair Brown schedules every project and writes every estimate himself, so the person who prices your job is the person who will run it.
